What is this book project?
The Mono Basin is one of the world’s most incredible and varied landscapes. In an area roughly the same size as the city of Chicago, here you will find bizarre rock formations, active volcanic fumaroles, snow-capped mountains, sand dunes, wild horses, and a lake three times saltier than the ocean.
It’s a place of breathtaking beauty, full of bizarre and wonderful secrets. I’ve lived 30 minutes from this basin since 2015 and have barely scratched the surface of what’s there.
Although the project is still in its infancy and I haven’t decided on an overall theme, in the work I plan to explore the different landscapes of the Mono Basin, and how those ecosystems shape, and are shaped by, the animals and plants living with, including humans!
A few shots from the project so far:
Join my journey as I dive deep into the spectacular Mono Basin to understand the landscapes, the ecology, and the human impact of this wonderful region.
