Josh’s Biography
Joshua Cripps is an award-winning nature photographer who hails from the small town of Sonora, California. Growing up in the foothills of Sierra Nevada Mountains provided him with endless opportunities for outdoor pursuits, which at the time he took for granted as a part of “normal” life. It wasn’t until Josh moved to the concrete-clad megalopolis of Los Angeles to purse an education in engineering that he realized the true value of trees and mountains. While in LA, Josh took every chance he could get to spend time in the wonderfully clean mountain air and granite cathedrals of the Sierras.
After graduating with his BS, Josh set off on a world-wide voyage of exploration which took him to wild lands in such far-flung places as New Zealand, Mongolia, and L’ile de la Reunion. It was this trip that spurred his interest in photography and capturing images of the beautiful places on the planet. Josh purchased his first serious camera in 2006 before a trip to Alaska and his photography hobby quickly turned into a passion and then a profession.
Now Josh delights in traveling around our beautiful planet, capturing nature at its finest wherever he encounters it and sharing breathtaking images with anyone and everyone.
His work can be seen in art shows, galleries, shops, and homes across California. Click here to see where Josh is currently displaying his work.

THIS WORLD IS BEAUTIFUL
It's a beauty that pervades, invigorates, pacifies, and overjoys.
A beauty to experience, to remember, and to share.
For me, photography is a medium through which to experience and share the wonder of this planet. For rather than stand as a barrier between myself and nature, my camera has enhanced my sense of beauty. It has made me more finely attuned to the ever-changing interaction of patterns and shapes, light and shadows, drama and subtlety which make up the natural world. It allows me to capture the often-fleeting emotion and feeling of the moment, to preserve it, and to share it with others. To create often-needed reminders that this world truly is beautiful.
