Notes from the Field

Having a good understanding of your camera and your subject is essential for taking beautiful nature photos.  But even with all the theoretical knowledge in the world, sometimes the best learning tool is just to know what another photographer did.  What settings he used, how did he deal with setup issues, what post-processing was used.  In short, how did he get that shot?!?  In this section I detail the exact settings and thought processes I used to get a variety of different shots under all kinds of conditions.  Listings with asterisks (*) are done with video.
